Welcome to Crest Tree Services Ltd
Founded by Sam Muscat, Crest Tree Services is a Bristol based arboricultural consultancy and contracting company.
For over a decade, Sam was working handson in arboriculture, climbing, pruning, assessing and caring for trees across the South West and beyond. He saw the best of the industry, skilled climbers, passionate consultants, people who genuinely cared. But he also saw the worst, rushed decisions, poor advice, unnecessary removals, and a lack of understanding about how trees interact with the wider environment.
Sam realised there was a gap. People needed clear, honest, evidencebased guidance about trees, advice that balanced safety, development and environmental responsibility. And they needed contractors who didn’t just “get the job done”, but understood why the work mattered.
So he founded Crest Tree Services with a simple ethos:
Do what’s right for the tree, the landscape and the habitat, not just what’s convenient.
Over the years, Crest has evolved from a small contracting outfit into a respected arboricultural consultancy business. What hasn’t changed is the heart behind it.
Today, Crest supports architects, developers, local authorities, homeowners, estates and commercial clients across Bristol and the South West. We specialise in BS5837 surveys, professional tree assessments and practical tree work, but our real focus is on responsible decisionmaking.
We believe that good arboriculture is about more than ticking planning boxes.
It’s about understanding:
how trees grow
how they respond to stress
how they shape habitats
how they coexist with people and buildings
how small decisions today affect landscapes for decades
Every report, every survey, every recommendation is rooted in that bigger picture.
At Crest, we care deeply about:
Tree health — making decisions that support longevity, stability and natural growth
Habitats — protecting wildlife, soil health and ecological networks
Sustainable development — helping people build and grow without unnecessary environmental loss
Honesty — giving clients clear, realistic advice, even when it’s not the easiest path
Stewardship — leaving landscapes better than we found them
We’re not here to remove trees for convenience or produce reports that simply “get planning through”. We’re here to help people make informed, responsible choices that respect both the built environment and the natural one.
